I saw one of my Polish colleagues on his own and caught him up to ask him about my country.
How long he had been here – ’4 yrs’, where he was from ‘a small place I had never heard of’, did he like it ‘not how it used to be – and getting worse’
I could sense that the conversation was on the verge of becoming deeper – ‘yes’ I agreed.
“All you British guys say that’ he said.
He wanted to go home, but there are no jobs.
At least he has a home to go to…………… mine has been given away.
