English Defence League - Courage

Here is a definition of courage – make up your mind

Courage (also bravery, boldness, fearlessness, mettle, fortitude, or intrepidity) is the ability to confront fear, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation. “Physical courage” is courage in the face of physical pain, hardship, death, or threat of death, while “moral courage” is the ability to act rightly in the face of popular opposition, shame, scandal, or discouragement.

Allegedly - PC speak in action

There were 2 news items that caught my interest this week – because of the way it was reported, chief culprits being the BBC.

The first was the execution of the lady in Afghanistan – the news reported that the women was allegedly executed – and then showed a video of her being , the news also said that the taliban was alleged to have carried out this murder – although the taliban said they did it.

Then compare with the reporting of the John Terry case – it was reported that Terry made a racist comment to anton – no use of the word alleged here – although JT said he never did it.

Why – 2 reasons spring to mind – firstly – dont upset muslims, secondly all white men (working class) are racists.

What does it matter – using the word allegedly softens the seriousness of these actions, makes it seem less so.
