IF you can keep your house when all about you
Are losing theirs because of immigration,
If you can trust yourself when all men call you racist,
But continue to speak out against the lies;
If you can find a job and not be tired of working,
or get a place at your chosen school,
Or university – where you can grow,
And yet these chances are growing harder

If you can dream – of a country we could be;
If you can think – of what we could achieve;
If you can meet the liberals and the Labour
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with hearts and minds

If you can make this country grow
After losing it on false ideals,
And now we must build again
And never repeat that mistake;
If you can force yourself to face the impending burden
and keep going after they have all gne,
And continue when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says this is all you have!’

If you can talk with truth and honour,
But never seek the support of kings,
if neither name calling foes and goverment oppression can hurt you,
If England counts with you, for she is weak;
If you can fill the empty void of this Isle
With courage that is worthy of her name,
Yours is the land and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be an English Man, my son!

I know – a silly attempt, but I guess you get the point I am making (yes – keep making, change the record Pym)

Ps - I wonder what Kipling would make of this country now. (here is a link to his If)
