2 reports were released yesterday – the first from Shelter said that 70,000 children face Christmas with no home. There are 69,846 children living in hostels, B&B, and refuges – many of these families will be forced to move repeatedly over the coming months, and some may have to wait years for a permanent place to live.
Every 2 minutes someone in Britain faces losing their home.
About 300,000 people will spend a 2nd Christmas on the dole – the number of those out of work for at least 12 months has risen by 35,000.
The second report said that the death rate of homeless males was (if I recall correctly) 47 and 43 for females.
