More benefits of immigration

The following are from the Daily mail today (16.10.11)

Useless laws:-

1)A British woman whose immigrant husband abandoned her weeks after getting into the UK via an arranged marriage revealed yesterday how the authorities spent ten years ignoring her pleas to deport him for flouting the law.
The 32-year-old, who has asked to remain anonymous after threats from her husband’s family, spoke out after learning to her horror that he has been told by the Home Office that he can stay in the UK.

2)It looks like something which could be seen in the hit film Slumdog Millionaire.
But these shocking images - which show garden sheds and garages transformed into dodgy homes for immigrants - are not from the slums of Mumbai. Incredibly, they are from a west London suburb.
According to The Sun, the sheds in Southall have been built by rogue landlords who are cashing in on newcomers to the country.

3)Ministers are drawing up plans to ban people from taking their driving test in a foreign language following claims many motorists cannot read traffic signs.

Transport officials say 'political correctness' means that many motorists are being granted UK licences, even though they do not have a basic grasp of English.
Every year around 90,000 theory tests - including bus driver tests - are taken in a foreign language, with the taxpayer footing the translation bill.

4)Earlier this year, a 36-year-old Somali man arrived in Britain and claimed asylum. He told Border Agency officials he had left his home in Mogadishu because he feared for his life and had paid around £650 to be smuggled here. He was, he said, a member of the Ashraf clan, one of the smaller ethnic groupings in Somalia.
As such he was at particular danger from al-Shabaab, a notorious terrorist group of Islamist militants currently locked in bloody battle with the government and sworn enemies of the clan.
Indeed, the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, claimed that its followers had one day approached him at his market stall, taken him to a terror camp and threatened him. And so he felt he had no option but to leave his wife and flee the country, heading to Britain and safety. - it was a lie.

Makes one proud.
