Courage

The other day I blogged about our Dave calling suicide bombers cowards.

I am reading a book by (Lord) Michael Ashcroft – George Cross Heroes. He has written 3 books about recipients of gallantry awards.

Thucydides, Greek Historian c.460 – c. 395BC ‘the bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet not withstanding, go out to meet it’

I think it can be said that suicide bombers have a clear vision of what is before them because it is death, they know this is 100% fact (unless they change their minds). A solider can not know for 100% certainty that he / she will die.

Does that not make them the bravest of the brave – and once we understand this – then we can start to understand how to deal with their threat.
